Previously known as the Scallop Festival, the Whitianga Oceans Festival is a popular foodie event held annually in Whitianga in September as a celebration of seafood and cuisine.
This year the festival organisers will focus on offering a variety of seafood from New Zealand waters while the local scallop beds are left to rest and regenerate.
There’s something for everyone, young and old – with food and wine stalls, cooking demonstrations from some of NZ’s top chefs, live music and entertainment. This will be the 16th year of the festival, one of the country’s most iconic seafood/kaimoana celebrations.
Tickets are usually available through their website from around April or May. We recommend purchasing your tickets in advance as it is a popular event and often sells out.
Flaxmill is within walking distance to Ferry Landing and the 5 minute passenger ferry over to Whitianga.
