Beach Wedding Info

Flaxmill Bay, Lonely Bay and Cooks Beach provide beautiful locations for ceremonies. Here are some things you need to know when considering this:

  • Along with your NZ Marriage License, a Registered Celebrant and 2 witnesses, you will need a concession from Thames Coromandel District Council (TCDC) to have your ceremony on a local beach. 
  • The TCDC application form and fee (currently $54) must be received at least 75 days before the day. We recommend booking as early as possible, especially in the summer months, to avoid disappointment. This form and other information is located on the TCDC website
  • The set up of a wedding arch and chairs is permitted on the beach, but marquees are not allowed.
